Does anybody know why a Voyager wont go on the center stand?

Post by Mr Jensee »

Since I got Charlie's Voyager I cant get the bike to go onto the center stand. The good thing is his bike is exactly like mine so I can compare things and replace missing bolts that I can take off my bike when I go down to the nut and bolt store to get some replacement. However I cant find any defect in the mechanism on his bike when I compare it with mine. However every time I put down the main stand and go to use the second lever it flies violently back up. This seems to be some kind of defect because they look identically the same. I was on my back laying down comparing them. Anybody know what to look for to correct this please chime in.

I think I've experienced what you are talking about, the first stage is down and then when trying to lever the second stage, the whole thing collapses and you have to catch the bike.

I just noticed on my 91 that the first stage when lowered, is not in heavy contact with the concrete, that is to say it is not 'preloading' for the second stage. When rocking the bike, I can't get the feel that both feet are on the ground at the same time, and in fact the bike will roll backwards rather easily with the first stage down.

I think in my case this is because of the extra ride height created by the above average air pressures that I like to run.

I agree. The wife and I fought with it but managed to get it upright and locked yesterday. I bruised the hell out of my right calf when it decided to snap back. Got the oil changed afterward anyway.
