Heated Gear

Post by HMB Don »

Steve
This is for you, you were asking about heated gear (electric liners and gloves). I got my long sleeve liner and gloves 10 years ago, They still work good no issues.

Both Trisha and I bought the First Gear brand. The gloves are the Carbon Gloves they cost more, but they are thinner and give you better feel when using them. The liners are the 65w they make a 95w liner. My 65w liner work good one morning when I left Vail AZ with temp 35, rode 800 plus miles to Half Moon Bay on my Voyager 1700. The high temp for the day was 60. Sounds warm but that lasted for a whole hour, most of the ride was in the middle 40's, California outside of LA is a cold place in the late fall and winter. When I arrived in Half Moon Bay the temp was 45 degrees. Best thing was the electric gear kept me warm all day. with the heat controller I was able to adjust the heat on the liner and gloves.

I still use the electric gear, I'm on my second set of gloves. My recommendation for you wife is to get the 95w liner, being a passenger is much colder then being the rider.

This is how I ran the wiring on the Gl1800. Everything is ran so that when the Ign is off no power goes to controller
