While perusing the various online suppliers of OEM parts I happened upon a part number change for both the throttle Opening, pull cable and for the throttle Closing, push cable for post 1986 models.
The old # for the pull cable was 54012-1331 and the push cable was 54012-1332 and now I see 54012-0045 for the opening, pull cable and 54012-0046 for the push cable. These latest numbers are listed as superseding the "old" numbers of 1331 and 1332.
I haven't had any need of either of these cables but I was wondering if anybody has actually ordered either of these and if so, are they a usable replacement for the original part number cables?
Hopefully they will fill the need for the discontinued original part number cables. Now let's do this for some of the other discontinued items such as the cylinder head LH water hose to the thermostat housing and so forth.

Re: Throttle cables
The '86 and '87+ VXIIs are significantly different, different enough to warrant different model designations (ZG1200-A vs. ZG1200-B) despite looking so much alike. The throttle cable differences are likely due to the addition of cruise control in '87.

Re: Throttle cables
I may have a chance to explore this later this winter. I need to replace my cylinder head, which means diving past the throttle cables. My cruise control still doesn't work despite passing all the checks in the manual. I'm half expecting to find a bad cable. If so, I'm willing to be a guinea pig with these new PNs. Thanks for finding them.

Re: Throttle cables
GrandpaDenny;
I stated "Post 1986 models" in my post to encompass the differences, ( cruise control ), between the 1986 model and the 1987 onward models.
The specific cable part number changes I was posting about were for the post 1986 models only.
