ignition switch wiring

Post by cushman eagle »

Before I do my winter service this time, I would like to find out if the ignition switch can be rewired with all new wiring to replace the loops I put in, when I repaired the 4 breaks in my current wiring. :hmm: It is certainly functional as it is,. but not very pretty :thk:

Sure can, just find someone that does wiring harnesses for a living. But if you can fix it yourself to be functional then this off season , redo it to look good and be functional..

I have made wiring harnesses for obsolete farm tractors,so,I was just wondering if it is hard to get to the wiring terminals in the ignition switch,or if it sealed to make it nonservicable. :hmm: :thk:

It has been about 5 years since I had mine out for some front end work, but from what I recall the posts protrude out of the case and the wiring is soldered to the tabs making for an easy repair. Hopefully some else will chime in that has had the switch out recently. As for the terminals at the connector I have had good fortune to be able to open them up and reuse them applying a small solder connection. Look in some electronic supply books for the terminal first. You may find some there.
