I have read the string of circa 2011 posts regarding "wind turbulance" (turbulence), the discussions of which focus on ventilation and the direction of air flow about the driver and passenger. My interest is the reduction of wind NOISE about my full face helmet. Based on my experience the undesirable level of buffeting about my head, and the related noise, seems to be directly related to wind turbulence. My 2002 Voyager XII is equipped with the stock windshield, and my line of sight is about 3 inches above the top edge of the windshield. I wear ear plugs inside my new full face HJC RPHA-10 helmet. I prefer looking over the windshield, and while the noise level I experience is not unacceptable, less would indeed be more in this case. I have noticed that wind buffeting about the helmet is eliminated when I stand up on the bike. Standing at 60 mph, the buffeting disappears and all I hear is a constant, low volume, medium pitch ssshhh. Very, very nice. So I conclude the helmet is not the culprit - it is as quiet as can be expected. Short of removing the fairing and foregoing all wind protection, has anyone figured out how to experience supreme quiet (aka, super low turbulence) while sitting down, and still looking over the windshield?
Thanks,
Travis

Re: Wind Noise
Travis, I haven't experienced what you have but from what you describe, it sounds like going to a shorter windshield might be your answer. Cee Bailey's makes a 22" and 18" windshields for the XII, though that would be a rather expensive test if it didn't work!
You must be tall if you see 3" over the stock (24") windshield!

Re: Wind Noise
When I got this bike, I noticed the windshield had been cut down. By my measurements it is at 18". I want the stock height because of turbulence, or at least 22". I am 5' 11".
