Re: mileage question
tough one. A well cared for Voyager with 117k will look better than a not so well cared for, kept outside, 10-15 year old bike with 17k. do you have any service records?

Re: mileage question
The good news is that if the bike looks like it has only 17k then either it does have only 17k or it has been well taken care of and these bikes are good for 300k or more if well maintained.

Re: mileage question
If you take some time and just look over the bike in areas you will be able to judge its mileage. Fork tubes that slide or work up and down into bottom parts should look really new at 17,000mi. Axle nuts for one would show some usage because that would be a lot of tire changes. Same for brake caliper bolts they have to come off at each tire change. I would think seat would show some wear at 117,000. The philips screw heads in the master cylinders covers would show some wear at high mileage. One of the ignition keys would also be worn and starting to show a little brass exposure and not be sharp and pointy like a new key if there was high mileage.

Re: mileage question
Another good area to take a look at is the foot peg rubbers for the driver. If they are worn down and have rounded edges or flat spots it's a pretty good indicator that the mileage is high. If they appear to have good crisp edges and show little to no wear then the mileage is probably on the low side.
