Rear brake bleed
I am tired of tring to bleed rear brake on my 87 1200. Gonna go by a brake bleed kit and try that. Anybody got any ideas ? I bleed lots of brakes over the years but this one being a real pain. I should have bought a vacuum pump a long time ago.

Agree with Speed Bleeders, but also........ Voyager 1200 rear calipers are notorious at holding a bubble in the caliper when it is setting upright. Many take the rear caliper off the bike, hold the caliper so the valve is at the highest point (Tilted) and open the valve and lightly, hand compress the piston to get that scudder out of there. Close Valve, put back on bike, and watch the pedal get rock hard.voyager55 wrote:Get speed bleeders. So easy to do it then Get the front & clutch bleeder to
Second option.....lean bike over to left side and bleed the break to get trapped bubble out.
Been there, done that, bought the Tee-Shirt!

P.S. another major problem with the rear calipers..... the retainer spring behind the pads have been known to fold over and get crimpped by the pads. This stops the pads from expanding back to the reservoir so the break fluid never builds up pressure. And, wa-la, no rear breaks at the pedal.
Been there, done that, and got that Tee-Shirt, also.....
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Re: Rear brake bleed
Love the pneumatic brake bleeder and vacuum pump. Mine is made by Pittsburgh. Makes any job so easy you will want to go out and bleed brakes for fun. Got mine at Harbor Freight. Well made unit.
