Front forks
I let some of the air out of my front shocks and the first thing that came out was a bit of oil. Is this normal? Will it hurt any thing?

Re: Front forks
Hello, I believe that is normal. On my KLR 650, you are supposed to
" let the air" out on occasion, which I think is part of the function of the valve. And I believe that the air is the result of the action of the forks, and after bleeding out air some of the fork oil make seep.

Re: Front forks
Normal if it has Progressive springs in it. Not so normal if it is stock.

Re: Front forks
My 2001 did this until I changed the fork oil, and I suspect it was because there was too much oil in the forks. Lot's of opinions on how much to put in, so one probable cause. My dilema is always how to put in only 8 pounds of pressure.. and the oil really screws up some air gauges. Wipe it up and wash down as it has a habit of discolouring the plastics below.Chris near Kansas City wrote:Normal if it has Progressive springs in it. Not so normal if it is stock.
