Exhaust leak or coolant?

Exhaust leak or coolant?
Yesterday morning on my way in to work it was only a few degrees above freezing (45F) and while waiting at a light I noticed some exhaust coming out through the steering opening rising up to where I'm sitting. Is there an easy way to tighten the pipes where they join onto the engine or do I have to remove the fairings?

You have to remove the lower scoop and shroud and radiator/fan to get to the flange nuts. You might be able to take off the upper hose and tilt the radiator forward to access the the exhaust.

Yes, I tilted my radiator forward last year to get to the pipes, disconnecting the lower hose worked. You just have to be careful when the radiator moves as not to damage other hoses, loosen them up, etc.

Make sure it is an exhaust leak before you tear all that apart. Does it smell like coolant? Or, may some oil got on the exhaust pipes and is just burning off.

Well, you were right, it was not exhaust leak at all but rather a coolant leak. I'm going to work on replacing the hoses today as I'm off work for a few days.
Any suggestions as to hose type? Or will any rad hose work?
Got the rad compleatly off, and battery out. How do I prevent the new hose from getting kinks in it? Particularly the lower rad hose and the two that go under the battery to the motor inlets? Can't seem to avoide getting kinks.

I don't know if you have used this asset or not, but if you go to the Dollar for Dollar category on the opening AVA page, at the end of replacement parts list, there are part #s for auto parts store hoses, from which sections can be cut, that will provide the sweeps needed.
The cylinder head to thermostat housing are two of the tightest bends, and being of small diameter are hard to find, outside of using the stock part.
When I last did my hoses, this past late winter/early spring, the stock oem hoses were all still available.
