K, i got my bike back from service and they didn't replac the hoses attached to the bottom of the carbs. My question is where does the large hose go? I know how to connect the small hoses on the bottom i just don't know where the bigger one ends. I assume it doesn't vent to the ground. That would be a waste of gas. Whats funny is i got the bike back a month ago and couldn't figure out why i kept smelling gas. Then this morning i started the bike and noticed liquid under the bike. I looked up and see gas pouring out of the btoom of the first carb. Freaked me out a little. Can't believe they forgot to hook this back up.

I found an installation tip by bruce kaufman and he stated he leaves the overflow hoses off as nofuel, under normal circumstances, no fuel should come out. My does. Only on start up. Can you just tighten up the drain screw and call it good? Or is there another issue?

If tightening up the drain screw does not fix the problem, then your needle valve is either sticking or leaking. If it always leaks when running, I would have the carb disassembled and check the needle valve. If it only leaks on start up, you may be able to loosen or "ungunk" it with Seafoam, but I would rather take it apart and service it. It may begin leaking again while riding and be a safety issue.

Thanks for the info. Whats sad is the carbs were just rebuilt a month ago. Hopefully when i take it back to them i won't get charged.

If your carbs are flooding, I suspect that the float levels were not set properly. There is also a float bowl vent hose that can get pinched on assembly, that can cause pressure build up in a float bowl which causes some "weeping". They should fix at no charge, as you probably paid good money to get a "Pro" to do the work. Those hoses are drain hoses, and should never leak, but I put a small plastic eye dropper on the end, and tucked it in to an inconspicuous location. Hot engines on return from a ride will expand some fuel which will cause minor gasoline odours, as the vent pipes do their job, but they should not cause the float bowls to discharge gas.Blind_hawk wrote:Thanks for the info.
