Subwoofer for the bike in the trunk

Post by Tonyvdb »

After some searching i found this what looks to be an ideal solution for a subwoofer on our bikes. This Kenwood slim line powered unit will fit nicly in the trunk of the Voyager and comes with both high level speaker inputs and a line in. It also has a wired remote that lets adjust the High pass filter and level.

This may very well be the most ideal sub for a bike around and it sure does not break the bank.

The frequency response is decent also at 35-180Hz

LOL, just want to fill out the bottom end of the system as it needs it. Not trying to wake up the neighbors. :LAngel

I looked at these too..
They should be fine , except the power requirements..

Dont forget , the Voyager Stock alternator is 35 amps MAX (420 Watts) and with all incandescent bulbs , ignition system, and general load requirements, its running pretty close to the wind.

I would suggest a direct to the Battery supply switched via a relay keyed to the ignition acc circuit.

I will try and dig into the specs more .. may have to end up with a reservoir cap too..

Pete

Edit:
8.5 Amps at 12 Volts at full power = about 100 W .. so, it "should" be ok at normal listening levels..
At full bore, be prepared to replace the trunk hinge and catches.. :-)
At speed, im having doubts as to the effectiveness of a device behind the listener.. But...

Thanks Pete, Im going to be using it mostly for in city riding. I also wont be running it very hard so likely not ever near its max amp draw.
Ive already abandoned the CB and disconnected it, replaced all lights except the headlight with LEDs so that should help plus you did my radio a few months ago.
Now just waiting for the city to get the gravel off the roads and go for a ride. It was 55F (16C) here today already lots of people jumping the gun and going for a ride even though the side streets still have some slush.
