I rebuilt a lot of these carbs and never had a problem.
That said I am finishing up a 2000 Voyager XII to sell, I rebuilt the carbs back in March including new needles and polished the seats and had trouble getting the float valves to seat so they don't leak.
after 3-4 times apart, I got them to not leak.
I finished up the bike last night to the point I could test ride it, Started right up looked down and the gas was just running out of the carbs, all 4.
My question is what is the difference between the factory and aftermarket clips on the float needles
I used the originals that were in the carbs but I could not see any difference.
I'm thinking someone else changed out the needles and didn't keep the original clips.

Re: Carburetor Issue
kevin, i too have had the same problem. i now have a designated hanger that i compare with the ones on carbs i rebuild, the difference is easily spotted when they are compared. many times mechanics give up when the carbs will not quit leaking and these are the ones i get in the mail to rebuild, this is the first thing i check. new hangers from kawasaki are $4.50 each (ouch!!) but i have saved a good supply from old carb assys......

Re: Carburetor Issue
I have another set of carbs off of a 86 that I don't think were touched, I am going to pull a bowl off of them tonight and see if they are different.
