Hi, new owner here. Have a 2015 voyager and love it. I've been poking around some of the other forums and have found one cause for concern: there have been a couple of reports of catastrophic transmission failure. One person traces it back to the output shaft. He states there's a compression washer that fatigues over time. When this happens, bye bye bearing and bye bye transmission.
Anyone have experience with or know about this?
Other than this, I've managed 3300km in one month. I traded up from a 900 because the wife and I were getting beat up on day rides and we wanted to start doing 2 days+. Glad we made the leap.

Re: 1700 voyager transmission
I'm one of the few who has had issues with the output bearing. Mine is a 2009 and it developed an annoying buzz/whir at 30K miles. The shop traced it to a bad output bearing, which also damaged 2 gears as well. (there's a thread here somewhere about it).
But I had the extended warranty, and it was fully covered. 4000 miles later, no issues.

Yup, that one I know about, there were a few early ones with bad bearings and there's good reading on it.
I'm more concerned about the output shaft itself. The person talking about it at the other forum says that the compression washer on his fatigued over time, causing the output shaft to wobble. That wobble ended up costing about 4k, says he's aware of a few others. His advice is every 20000 miles to remove the nut and washer, clean the shaft, grease with moly and re assemble with new washer. I'm wondering if it's overkill for something very random or if it's a known issue. We don't normally do that kind of mileage up here, but I'm going to and my plan is for the long haul.

Not sure if this is related, but make sure that your belt is not too tight which stresses the driveline. Many are set too tight from the start.

yup, at my first oil change, the dealer mechanic backed off the tension to just this side of too slack.
