Rear Suspension Air Leak

Post by biggersm »

Our Y2K Voyager XII has a slow air leak for the rear shocks. We tightened the schrader valve but we still loose air. What is the next most likely place that air might be leaking? I see two lines (assumably a supply and a return line) going to each shock and several locations that a leak could occur. Are their crush washers or some other way that all those connections are supposed to be sealed? Has anyone ever had a leak that was simply due to old air lines? Has anyone ever tried to put in tire sealant (maybe that's a stupid question)?

Any thougts/opinions/ideas/personal experiences are welcome.

Fill the system with compressed air to specs and mist/spray connections with soapy water. Look for bubbles to show where leak is. Tire sealant is a bad idea if you ever plan to have the system work correctly again......

Many years ago I did put the tire sealer in a pair of car air shocks it held for a few weeks , but then it was back to a leak that needed a refill about every other week. I was in inpressed back then. but not now. (young and dumb teen age years) hope it helps JIM
