Center Stand Removal
OK, so I managed to break the lever off of the first stage of the center stand. I want to remove the 1st stage to weld a new lever on. Now that it is on the side stand I found it rather difficult to see how the center stand is removed. Is it possible to remove just the first stage? There are 2 sets of horizontally orientated bolts, but one is definitely a pivot point. Do I remove one of these sets or is there another mounting point that is difficult to see? Sorry for the rather basic question, but I have learned the hard way it is sometimes much better to ask the simple question before dis-assembly begins! TIA!!!

Here is a website with an expanded view http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/par ... asaki.aspx but I would call Carl Leo just to make sure. Chris near KC could probably help also.

Re: Center Stand Removal
Yeah, David, I saw this post yesterday but couldn't remember off the top of my head, and then forgot to look when I got home. Joseph, I replaced the stand on a Voyager last summer but can't remember the ins and outs except for that the pivot bolt on the RH was difficult due to the exhaust on this particular bike being too close. Had to stick a prybar in there to move it out of the way far enough to get the bolt in and out. Plus fighting the springs was a little challenging. I'll be down in the garage shortly so I'll double check, but I think you can get by with just removing the lower piece that needs the welding.

Re: Center Stand Removal
Joseph1 A quick and simple fix for this is, if you see the hole in Chris's photo on the inside of the bracket you can drill a same size hole on the other other end of that bracket where he has it welded and take a piece of flat bar and drill two matching holes in it and bolt it on & bend it to where you want it. Then you do not have to remove center stand and will work forever. If you want to take lower part of center stand off to re-weld lever :: remove nuts that you can & spring (with screwdriver or brake tool) and then put XII on side stand to remove bolts . The bolt on the side stand side takes a little patients using a open and box wrench. Make sure you lube (Light grease) everything when you put it back together.. Hope this helps..

Re: Center Stand Removal
The whole stand can come off fairly easy. The pivot bolts have nuts on the inside. Remove the nuts, unscrew the bolts, and then undo the springs.

Re: Center Stand Removal
Hey guys, thanks for the info and the great photo. I took a shot this weekend and after I got it up on the center stand it seemed that the lower section was held on by the two lower bolts (not the pivot points) I loosened them up and removed the outside spring and bingo! The lower piece came off. Now it will be an easy weld. Thanks again!

Re: Center Stand Removal
For those interested, there are 3 center stands which just popped up on E-bay. They are listed for the ZN-1300, but I checked the part number and they are identical to ours. They range in price from $24-$50. For the record, I have no affiliation but I do think I am going to get a spare at those prices.
