What would you do? HF Tag Along
So I used my 25% coupon and a gift card today to purchase the last Tag Along in stock, $289.99, saved $110. Brought it home and unpacked to inspect, 1 broken latch and 1 cracked side marker light. I figure I can deal with that and just upgrade to led's and call the service number tomorrow to have them send me a new latch. The hubs didn't seem to spin to freely. I pulled the first one off ( nut was tight ), repack with good grease, and reattached. The crown nut either lines up with the cotter hole loose ( cotter pin holds nut in position, but the nut can rotate back and forth ) or tight ( nut is too tight and force has to be use to turn the hub ). The other hub which did not spin freely would not slide off the spindle. I used my rubber mallet to presude it off but ended up ruining the inside seal ( no biggie that can be replaced ). The inner bearing will not slide on or off without force and I tried the other hub and it too will not slide onto the spindle ( seems like this spindle is a thousandths bigger in diameter ). Is there a solution or should I take it back for a refund?

What is this Tag a long, a trailer? Sounds like you saved nothing to me. The thing sounds like junk. If it was me who received that thing from my hard earned money I'd be on the phone demanding my money back. (just my opinion of course)

I would return it and have them order a replacement. I just checked the Harbor Freight website and the trailer is in stock.

Re: What would you do? HF Tag Along
Take it back. The savings and coupons are irrelevant as you paid (whatever the price) for a new, working trailer and that's not what you got. You shouldn't have to fix a thing. Change things and upgrade things, fine, but everything should be working out of the box!

http://www.piggybacker.com/ They are trying to copy this. They are higher but they have been around a long time. I beleve they make one with smaller tires. Good people if you ever have a problem.

HF (at least our local HF) is exceptionally great to deal with if you have a return. My father-in-law returned a generator that he had for about 3 months, went to change the oil and the filter had been cross threaded. Called and they said to bring it in for replacement or money back, that was it no arguments! Stop by and talk to the manager if it's fairly close, if not call.

I agree with all the other. They should order you a replacement. I wonder if the chinese sell the same quality stuff in their own country.

No offense to our Asian friends but I think most of the 'iffy' stuff gets sent here like lead contaminated childrens toys, dog food that kills and brakes that fail that are a complement to accelerators that apply themselves!David (N. They took it back and refunded my purchase, they didn't have another in stock, but said they'll be getting another one in next week and give me a call. Sales person said they would still honor the 25% off price too. This is the first one they've every had come back at this store.

That's great, I think it's safe to assume that the company policy is tried and true "if the customer aint happy, do what you need to make it right!"
If there's a silver lining in all of this you now know how to assemble/adjust/fix most of what could possibly go wrong!

Re: What would you do? HF Tag Along
My best friend, who I have known for 60 years, bought one of these trailers last week in East Peoria, IL, they had 2 and he took the one that had less damage to the carton. He had the running lights broken, he said because the trailer frame was packed on top of them. They ordered him new lights without question, even though he is going to use LED lights on the trailer.
