left side speakers........fixed.

Post by gearheadfla »

I've been having a problem with my left side speakers not working more than working. Have chased wires, plugged, unplugged, and wiggled everything I could find to wiggle. Made a phone call to our radio god, did a few things he said to try and still no sound. Today I removed fairing, headlight and dug in cleaning and putting Dielectric Lube on every connector I could find, got to the fader and remembered the tread in here on how to remove it. Took the fader out and sit down with the ole laptop and went to cutting wires, got it all wired, plugged it in and all speakers went to bouncing. Also seems the be louder and clearer now. So a bad fader was the problem all along. Now on to those bad rear speaker mounts.

Excellent Job Sir.. Well done.. Just grab a new one from Carl in the future, or ebay.. Oddly enough, apart from the one on the 94, I dont have any myself..

The rear speaker mounts can be found on ebay and at bike bandit.

Now just one question Pete, where is the amp. ? I thought it was the gold colored box under the left front speaker, but I unplugged it to lube the connectors and the radio kept playing even with the box off the bike and in my hand. :hmm:

The amp is under the right fairing.. by the cruise control actuator sandwiched between two black plastic tray type covers..
I think you unplugged the Cruise control module.

So unless you were riding at the time when unplugged it .... LOL :gig:

OH!!!!!! That explains why it dropped down to 70 when I did that. :hmm: OK now to pull the right side apart and lube all the connectors I find.
