Radio HS Button Appears Inop

Post by Jim From Florida »

Had the battery out a couple of weeks ago while working on the bike. Put the battery back in and the radio HS button was on. Could not get it to go off. I referred the the radio manual and did what it said. Button will not go off. I even tried spraying contact cleaner as best I could. Still won't go off. Any thoughts or suggestions?? :dm:

Sounds like the screw has come out of the circuit board inside the radio next to the HS button. Common problem, just takes a while to fix it. Usually you'll find the screw bouncing around inside the radio.

As things turned out, I didn't have any work this week so I tackled the radio. AMAZING how a little screw can cause so much work. I called Carl after I pulled the radio and couldn't find the loose screw. He walked me thru it. As it turns out, one screw had come loose. I re-installed it with locktite. I the removed the other two and used locktite on them. Really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Just need patience. Thanks for the help, again :bowdn:

Just removed mine too. Sure enough that little screw had come out. Found it under the tape drive. Reinstalled screw and put a drop of clear nail polish on the edge to prevent this repeating itself.
Will reinstall in the next day or two. I'll let you know how it does.
