Synthetic Oil
I'm doing an oil change on the 2011 1700 this week. 4K miles (since February- yay!). My local shop says to run regular oil until this or the next change to allow for all parts to seat correctly. I've always used synthetic on my previous multi-cylinder bikes but this is my first big V. Opinions on synthetic oil on the Voyager are much appreciated.

Re: Synthetic Oil
I chose to run Mobil 1 20w50 synthetic for V-twin motorcycles.
My reason is that I don't want to be changing oil more than twice a year.

Re: Synthetic Oil
I have been using Amsoil but I might put Royal Purple Max Cycle Synthetic in when I do the next oil change. I have been running it in my John Deere Lawn Tractor for two seasons and it looked clean when I did the last oil change a month ago after 100 hrs of service. I was impressed. I have usually run the Amsoil 20 w 50 in the HD's and the 10 w 40 in the Gold Wings and have been satisfied with the results. With oil prices being what they are, the difference between non and full synthetic have decreased over the past few years.

Re: Synthetic Oil
I have been using Amsoil 10W40 since about 4,000 miles. Have been using it in my bikes the last 15 or so years. No problems. Also use the Amsoil filters so I don't have to change them between oil changes.
