BlueTooth intigrated into VXII Intercom System
Pete, This question is mainly for you but anyone can chime in. I was wondering how or if its possible to use my I-Phone via bluetooth through the Voyagers intercom system. I pushased a Garmin Zumo 660 with mic and audio jacks but the hardwired mic is not loud enough and can't be heard. Trying to figure out a system on my long ride to Kanab in July. Has anyone solved this problem?

This will not work with my Zumo 660. I can here music, voice directions and the caller fine with my zumu plugged into my Aux jack on the radio but the external mic connected to the 2.5 mm jack on the zumo the volume is to low. the caller cannot here me. Tried several mics and looked for settings and still no good. Am wondering if an external bluetooth mic only is available that might work. Will keep searching and wondering if anyone else uses a hands free phone on the Voyager. Would like to use it through the radio if possible.

I use a Garmin 2820 gps with bluetooth connected to a cassette adapter in the Voyager radio. Because the mic picks up a lot of background noise, I have to slow down to about 35 mph or stop completely for the person to hear me through the mic. I also have a small wind sock from Radio Shack over the mic to quiet down some of the noise. What you need is a noise cancelling mic but Garmin uses the 2.5 mm jack and I haven't found a mic that has a connector that size. You might want to check with Neal at Air Rider. The best thing about this setup is that I know instantly who is calling me and I can decide then if I want to pull over and call them back instead of having to check my phone every time I stop.

Re: BlueTooth intigrated into VXII Intercom System
Nathan,
Thanks for your reply and suggestions. I don't need to use a cassette adapter for audio output. Pete (suzib6sw) installed the mp3 jack in my radio and I use that. I did purchase the mic from Garmin with the 2.5mm jack. It does not put out enough volume so the person I am trying to talk to can't hear me. Even sitting still with the engine off. I can hear them fine. I believe it is a problem with the zumo 660. Others on the zumo forum have had the same issue. On the Gold Wing and Harley Davidson Forums there is an adapter that can be plugged into the on board audio system to use the boom mike but so far nothing like that exists for the XII. I was thinking that maybe if it exists a Bluetooth mic only might work. I will keep researching.

I might of found a solution. I brought a bluetooth Q7 mini headset and paired it with my I-Phone that is paired with my Garmin Zumo 660. Stuffed it under the windsock on my boom mic and tried it in the garage. Can hear the call coming in through my Zumo and they can hear me from the Q7 mini headset. Will have to try it at 70 MPH to see if it really works.

Personally I dont go riding to talk with people on the phone, We have enough distractions and enough to look out for without fellow bikes now trying to talk on the phone while riding. IMHOP

Personally Mike I don't either. Just thinking about my longest trip ever to Kanab across Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and half of Colorado the first day. Not a lot to see and might get bored. Looked in the IBA web site and they say the phone is a big help to pass the time.

Hmm.. I use the Blinc M1 and M2 add on bluetooth intercom units in either open or full face helmets..
They can pair to MULTIPLE devices and also have a 1500ft intercom range.... Im looking at options to integrate with the radio also.. Mono isnt an issue technically but stereo is.. I need to find a stereo transmitter AND receiver module.. Stereo Receiver is no problem.. its the Stereo transmitter where the problem lies and then to incorporate it with the receiver..
Im working on it

Mike even a cb is a distraction and everyone wants one of those. The phone is actually easier than talking on a cb because it is hands free and you don't have to press the push to talk button to communicate.Mike in Pekin , Il wrote:Personally I dont go riding to talk with people on the phone, We have enough distractions and enough to look out for without fellow bikes now trying to talk on the phone while riding. Nate we will have to agree to disagree, As a society I am constantly reading the complaints about distracted Drivers and People getting ran over by Folks Texting and talking. Just don't see the need to add to that. As for the by I do not know many of us that have full fledged conversations on them and I personally do not have to look away from the road to see the button.
