Have heard other folks speak of this, What I discovered is that the chrome ring around the headlight rattles when you bump it. Might be something to check....

I have had no less than 10 different rattles with trim and plastic on mine....buy lots of felt tape and apply everywhere plastic meets

Yup..fairing is HUGE source of rattles. Just have to deal with them one at a time. When I had my fairing apart I checked all the fasteners that are in there and discovered that the fasteners that hold the instrument cluster were loose. I also found that some of the little chrome rings that are on the fairing surrounding the intruments were loose. Couldn't see how to tighten them up so a drop of super glue was applied.
Haven't gone further than the end of the driveway and back so don't know if I solved all sources of rattling yet.
