Re: Bike will not start
By "starter lockout switch" do you mean the kick stand switch? Is the bike in neutral? Is the kill switch engaged? Is the bike standing pretty straight? Do you have lights, proving your battery is charged?

Re: Bike will not start
Bike should start in neutral without pulling clutch lever in, is the RED kill switch on the right grip on or off ? I know that sounds like a dumb question and you have probably checked that but I just want to throw it out there, I was thrown by that once on a different bike once to the point of almost calling a tow truck because I never used it to shut my bikes down, must have hit it getting off the bike, now that's the only way I shut it off so it don't make a fool out of me anymore. Have you checked the fuses ?

Re: Bike will not start
I'm sure you checked to see that the battery was charged and ok. Can you hear the starter solenoid clicking to indicate that power is getting solenoid? Check battery cables for tightness. If it isn't the battery or solenoid check all the fuses under the tank. If all is good then move to the starter and check for loose connections there.

Re: Bike will not start
For the fun of it, try moving the handle bars right to left, lock to lock and see if it does anything, maybe the famous harness break because of the tie wrap by the steering head has bit you. Like I said, just throwing darts here. Bet when you find this it will be one of those moments we seem to get ourselves in.

Re: Bike will not start
i have checked a few harness on the right side an on the left the biggest harness was the whie one under he left panel. I've also cleaned them with cleaner an wire brushed mosted of them this is very time consuming but i will press on until the problem is found so if there is any other advice the forum can offer i would be great.

Re: Bike will not start
So did you figure out the issue and if so what was it. I have been dealing with an ongoing resurrection process of the 1990 Voyager XII that I have in the garage. Replaced carbs, wiring harness, and the list goes on. Right now having a starting issue...that is driving me nuts. Curious to know if your issue was solved.
