I have a 2012 Voyager. The '96 XII I had a Russel Day Long seat and was the most comfortable seat I ever had, we could ride 6-8 hours with no problem at all. On my '12 my wife is having a hard time adjusting to the seat.
I'd like to know if anyone has tried the pillow top gel seat from Kawasaki.
Thanks

Re: New pilow gel seat
Can you be more specific on where the pain is? We have always gone with the cheap solution first and if that doesn't work then we worked up from there. Some find relief from beaded seats while others have bought seat cushions from Wal Mart. On long trips we use simple foam cushions which can in turn be our pillows if we are camping. Too bad Wal Mart dropped their gel pad seats.
There may be an ergonomic concern that can be made better by highway pegs for the passenger. Arm rests help too.
Pain can travel to various points on the body. I used to get a pain between my shoulders at the base of my neck on my XII but it was the simple addition of a backrest that solved the problem.

Re: New pilow gel seat
The pillowtop gel seat is firmer than the OEM seat and will sit you up higher as well. I like it, but your results could vary.
For my wife's comfort, I also draped a sheepskin pelt over the seat. It added width and fluff as well as cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
You can get a RDL seat for the Voyager 1700 if that is the way you want to go.
