Please help me I'm falling.......
...in love with this:
A buddy just traded in his Victory Cross Country for a 2012 K1600GTL in silver. He rode it by to let me see it today. While I didn't ride it, it sat awfully nice! It was easy to firmly plant both feet. The saddle felt comfy as well. The accessories on the bike are pretty amazing when compared with my bike. I like the red color best--and I'm not a big fan of red anythings!
I see myself finding a different ride within the next few years. In reality, I'm riding a design from the mid-eighties. While it is an awesome ride, technology has come light years in the last thirty years. I see myself on a bike with fuel injection, etc. soon.
Now, if I can just get one of you fellas to adopt me and buy me one........ it can even be a used one.

Re: Please help me I'm falling.......
I read about the GTL quite a bit on some of the Goldwing forums including from some people who have owned both a GL 1800 and a GTL. I won't publicly link to the different forums but I can send a link in a PM if interested. I have read extensive stories but the quick things that come to mind:
The Good
Crazy fast (much faster than a GL 1800 and the GL 1800 is faster than an XII or Voyager 1700)
Smooth engine
The Bad
BMW dealer network is smaller
If you have a passenger they are more uncomfortable than if they were on any Voyager or Goldwing
The love it or hate it
Strange controls
Strange dash layout
Anyway, whatever you choose you will always be welcome here.
On a different note I read in one of the motorcycle magazines that this is the first ever inline 6 cylinder in a full dress luxury touring motorcycle (guess they never heard of a Voyager 1300)

What they meant is it is the first inline six in their lifetime...
I like both the GTL and the Wing, but in my (subjective) mind, the GTL "feels" lighter. I seem to remember the GTL to be 770 or 780 lbs. and the Wing being over 900 lbs. So, in essence, it is quite a bit lighter. There are some negatives, a smaller dealer network, high cost of maintenance, etc. The controls would become intuitive soon enough. I deal with that every time I rent a piece of construction equipment and I manage to learn the new controls pretty quickly. Both are expensive to aquire, but hold their value well. Insurance is something I haven't checked into yet--both will probably be high.
At this point, it's just a pipe dream anyway......

Does this one have the electric centerstand? I thought that was the coolest feature on the high end BMW's I looked at some years ago.

I'm not sure if it has the electric stand or not. My friend's bike did not. With the new design, there may not have been room for one.

Bruce. You can put some helibar Horizons on the Concours with a corbin seat and save yourself 10,000 dollars.

That looks like an awesome ride. But, my big bike has to be capable of two up. If I were buying just for myself, I think I'd like a smaller bike--not sure what, though. Maybe Honda's new CB500X with some luggage installed.

You put a Corbin trunk on it and it is the same bike.Bruce in OK wrote:That looks like an awesome ride. But, my big bike has to be capable of two up. If I were buying just for myself, I think I'd like a smaller bike--not sure what, though. Maybe Honda's new CB500X with some luggage installed.
