Fuel Leak

I have a 1998 Voyager and I have a fuel leak behind the engine and below the fuel tank, how hard it to get into the area to check the fuel pump or fuel lines to check of the leak, it just started it and only does it when running and never done it before.

Take the left side covers off and get yourself a real bright flashlight to shine in below the tank. The fuel hose connects directly in the center bottom and goes towards the engine/front. I had an issue with mine (as well as some others I believe) where mine line started leaking at the tank connection. I ended up with a real mess but when it was all over and done with it was back together and running absolutely fine with a new filter and no leaks. I trimmed about 1/4 of an inch off my hose and reconnected it as the end had started to dry.
Good luck and make sure you have some long needle nose pliers and maybe locking hemostats if you plan on removing the filter as there is no shut-off on these tanks.
One more thing, don't try anything with a full tank of gas. If the line does come off it will drain fairly quickly, I can tell you it only take a few minutes for 2 gallons +/- to drain.

It looks like the gas is coming from the drain tube on the bottom of one of the carbs, question is (1) does anybody have a idea what might be causing this and if it might be a easy fix (2) would it be a easier fix to remove the carbs off my donor bike I have and install them ???

Probably got some trash under one of the needle valves. If you don't know which one of the carbs is leaking open the drain screws on all of them, allow them to empty into a container then turn the engine over to flush the carbs. Close the drains, fill up the carbs and see if you have fixed the problem. Would suggest changing the fuel filter also as it may have stuff in it...Good luck............Gator Mike

Thanks for the Idea, I found which carb it was by touching the headers, drained carb, started it up let it run for a few min., closed drain and no more leak, THANKS AGAIN

Glad you got it fixedi. That was a Carl Leo suggestion and as usual almost everything he says works. Might change the fuel filter also as it might eventually affect the other carbs also. Happy trails.........Gator Mike
