Drivers backrest?
I need to get a back rest but 199.00 is not in my buget. Some said that some GL backrezt will work can I get more info, like which ones to look for etc.

The least expensive new backrest used to be made by Harrison Specialities. I don't see the one for a Voyager XII on their web page any more but maybe you can find one by calling their customer service.
I didn't see any on e-bay for the XII for the rider right now, but there was a replacement for the passenger.
There is always a chance Carl Leo has one: e-mail Carl at voyagerparts@bellsouth.net or call at 731-413-8666.
As for putting a Goldwing luggage rack on I don't have experience. The XII looked so similiar to at GL 1200 that many see one and think it is the other bike but as to exact mounting points you might have to bend, drill, weld etc. If successful we like to see pictures. You would probably have less luck with a later model Goldwing (1500 or 1800).
I hope you find what you need. A back rest followed by foot pegs are the two best items to increase long distance touring comfort.
