Just put on some new brake pads. Here's the steps I followed. Hopefully helpful to other members when the time to replace pads comes.
1. Unplug wire going to saddlebag lights at top of saddlebag near frame.
2. Remove saddlebag by pilling pin with large round ring inside bag - Lift up on bag and remove.
3 Push caliper in (compress) as far in as you can.
4. Remove the 2 allen head bolts that hold caliper on bracket.
5. Lift caliper off of bracket & rotor.
6. Small pad will just lift our from spring band.
7. Large pad, you have to compress the one or both stantions it hangs on & force it off of the end of one of them, very close fit but it will come off.
8. Replace pads same position as they came off.
9. Reassemble same as you removed making sure that pads stay where they are supposed to be.
10. Pump up rear brake until you have a solid pedal.
11. Test on center stand before you ride it ..

FYI
You did not talk about checking the rotor, what about the break fluid. This is a good time to replace the fluid, and bleed the breaks.

One more thing, always . . . . ALWAYS use caution with brake fluid around the plastics on bikes. Some here have found out the hard way and posted warnings as it will eat away at the plastic over a period of time. It's easy to cover the bike with an old towel or plastic drop cloth if your changing brakes and have to leave the master cylinder open, that way the fluid doesn't squirt out onto the bike.
