Radio readout
The last two times I rode my "99,[a week apart] I noticed my radio time/frequency display is getting harder to read. The numbers look like all 8s as I try to read them.Is this repairable?

Re: Radio readout
I thought my ears were burning..
Ok.. Fading display, yes, its on its way out..
It is replaceable BUT they are like rocking horse manure now.. My original source has dried up, I have an alternative but they cost 3 times the amount and they too are very limited numbers now.
I even tried LCD manufacturers, but unless I want 5000+ units, its a no go and even then, the cost would be far more..
So.. The upshot is, unless you want to install an aftermarket radio and loose some functionality , give me a yell soon..
Cheers..

Re: Radio readout
The display is not fading, instead the 2,3,and 4th numbers are dark enough that the segments that are not to be darkend are almost as dark as the segments that are to be darkend, making for instance, a 3 look almost like an 8

There is no way to re-polarize the liquid crystal unfortunately.
In the past, I have even reversed the filters on the front and back in an effort to re-rejuvenate the displays, but there is no fix..
Either water or too much UV causes this issue.. or too much heat.. .You can see the same but effect if you happen to leave your phone on the dashboard in direct heat/uv .. most times, it will recover, but over the years the effect becomes irreversible.
