AVA RAlly Bike Games

Post by shemogolee »

Hi All,

Can anyone post up the cone layout for the upcoming AVA Rally Bike Games?

Patterns, dimensions, marking system etc ?

And for you 1700 riders out there ... what's the tightest diameter u-turn the 1700 can do?

best regards,

Shemogolee

Well, judging from last years rally, my 1700 trike takes about 1853 feet to turn a circle. :gig: :gig:

:-O NO it's less than that. It's more like 1638 feet (just under 500 meters). :gig:

You must be locking the brake on one side and just spinning it around to keep it at that diameter

Well, they don't call it a "1700" for nothing! :gig: :gig:

Actually, at the Western Regional Rally in Reno last August Don Medina almost made the U-Turn Two-Up.

I tried one more time after the one pictured. And I did make it. What I've found is the more practice the better and tighter a 1700 will turn.

But all of those at Logan last year saw a display of skill by and first time owner and rally attendee on a 1200.

That was Ken Knight and wife, here's a link to the YouTube video of his skills. At about the 40 second mark is when he does the U-turn, scrapping metal!
Many of us just stood in shock wondering if it was intentional till he did it again, then again!
Amazing, both of them as I know my wife would have slapped me in the head and made me let her off after that!!!!! :gig:

Thanks for the nice comments and reposting the video Scott. The wife and I had a lot of fun that day.

It has been a little on the cold side in Indiana, but I did get in a little practice yesterday to get ready for Asheville. Set up a 30 foot circle and did figure eights inside of it, as well as some slalom work. Not sure what Mike will set up this summer, but I do plan on being ready for whatever he decides to do!

Of course I would practice even if I was not going to attend the next Rally. You can never be sharp enough to avoid every situation, but I sure want to put the odds in my favor.

Some really nice 2 up and slow skills there! I run a slolam quite a bit as well, but let me tell you, that stupid peg will jump out and bite you! Running a slolam in December, coming out of it, got over to far, the peg grabbed the asphalt, and the front tire came out from under. Dang bike ran over my foot, ground me into the pavement a bit, stood back up, wobbled another 10 feet before adding insult to injury by falling over on the OTHER side. All of this under 15 mph.

Looking forward to a future Midwest area Rally. Loved Little Rock on that Rally.

Now, that is riding skill! I did something similar to this in 1970 on a Triumph 650, but the cop was behind me! :gig: :gig: :gig:

Looks like a fun lay out for the Bike Games this summer. I know the Voyager will fit anywhere a Harley will fit!
