PRE - SEASON - MAINTENANCE AND COST

Well for the first time in 4 years, I have done every thing I wanted to do on the bike before the season started. Usually two weeks before I head out I'm getting tires or something. total cost on the job, in parts 957.00. Anyhow its ready for the twisty's in the Smokey's. Today wasn't too bad at about 40 deg and cloudy. I wrapped up the finishing touch's and took it down the road.
So here's a Bad Picture but good first run after all the work done to it.

I'm almost there. Have some leaky fork seals on the '90. May or may not get a whole nudder fork set installed before Moonshine. With one less bike in the garage now (and maybe 2 less before long), it's easier to focus on the other things needing done.

I recall you mentioning that your #1 float bowl drain was bad (stripped threads or leaking ? )
did you get a used floatbowl off ebay or repair the old ....................tony

HI Tony, The threads are good it's the 3 mm socket head that is worn out. I do drain the bowls often...'3 to 4 times a season into a jar and you would think it would come out clean every time. But what does get by the filter will collect there. I just received four good ones from Carl Leo today as I sit here. With the front end now much tighter than ever it felt like I was riding a dirt bike. Now that its ready to roll , it started snowing here today at 4:00 pm
My plans were to roll it outside and give the shop a good cleaning up tonight, but may just put tooling away from past 4 jobs and give the lathe and mill a good vacuum job. Gene K.

Sure , just not with household money That price tag I mentioned for the cost of the jobs done on the bike, is not what I spent out of pocket. I do allot of bartering and of course the money I make from , vents, sockets, and other items I do for the couple of custom shops I deal with. All totaled out of shop money spent was 230.00 the rest was bartered. I am fortunate to have my own shop here at home. I have always made it a habit of doing side jobs to keep my bikes up to par. Now with the wife not having a job I might be spending many more late nights in the shop and looking for other items to manufacture. We were in the process of acquiring a CNC mill when she lost her job, but that's on hold now. I was going to start asking for old drive-shafts to redo but new they go for about 245. so with the 100 dollar price of the correct u-joint and labor then shipping it didn't seem to be worth it. I am hoping the vents and mirror trim help me get to the rally this year. Life in the northeast is not for the retired gents. A busy man is a happy man.....or so my wife says
