Ignition switch
I have just experienced a problem with my 98 v12 that I thought I might share, Now this may have already been touched upon so I will apologize in advance. I have had a problem with my signal lights randomly working for about a year, The position of the handlebars seemed to affect they're working ,After reading up on it on this forum I decided that the culprit was most likely the 9 pin molex at the forks. We would wiggle it they would work, Great! so we took it apart cleaned it with contact cleaner and applied a liberal amount of grease. Seemed to work great .Then went to leave work and discovered that when I turned the handlebar the motor died because the ignition turned off. After more research(on our own time not the company's!) we decided that the problem was at the switch after much heated discussion with said switch it was removed and the root problem discovered. Wiring at the switch where a piece of metal is crimped on the to take tension off the switch was where the wires were broken this included the signal lights and ignition .So for temporary fix cut out the defectives and spliced new wire in until I can get a new switch.$111.00 at Sloan's!

Re: Ignition switch
Sorry just heading to bed so I can't search for it now but search the forum for Ignition Wire-tie or tie wrap. From the factory a lot of these have a tie wrap too tight along the left frame rail under the faux tank not far from the ignition switch. Mine would go out, complete loss of power in tight left turn, but come back when the bars were turned back straight. Cost to fix, about $0.40 for solder/electrical tape. Find the break in the wire, strip it back and fix it. By all means get rid of that factory wire tie!
Edit:
FOUND ONE: http://www.amervoyassoc.org/forum/viewt ... +cut+break.
Click this link and read about the wire ties being too tight and problem resolution!
