1994 Voyager 1200 Fuel capacity
I think I may be either blind or can't read. I see nothing in the OM as to the capacity of the fuel tank. Help?

If you are new to the bike you might not be aware that this bike has an indicator light that is supposed to come on when you get down to approx 1.2g left of gas. Mine among others didn't work when I bought the bike and I have filled up with less than .2g left (more than once) in the tank on trips. I finally ordered the replacement and it works fine now (an easy replacement, accessible under the seat).debron wrote:6.2 US gallons.

I don't remember for sure but it was either owners manual or service manual. I'm on a road trip right now but will look it up when I get home next week.EZdriver wrote:Thanks, Ron. Where did you find the capacity?

Re: 1994 Voyager 1200 Fuel capacity
Not sure when Ron will be back, it is on page 1-5 in the service manual,1-3 in the service manual supplement. It says fuel capacity 23.2L X 0.2642 ( on page 16-10 unit conversion table )=6.129 gal. Good Luck.

Re: 1994 Voyager 1200 Fuel capacity
THanks gang!! Found it!! I notice the gauge reads very low with quite a bit of gas still on board. My last '88 Voyager did the same thing.

Re: 1994 Voyager 1200 Fuel capacity
EZdriver, Here's the fix for you, I'll do my best to explain it.
Pull the fuel sender from the top of the tank. Lay it down on a piece of card board hold top sending unit and move rod with float to empty level. hold everything as still as you can and take a pen and draw an outline of everything even top piece This is for a reference point. Or if you decide to put it back to original position.
Now for the fix, you will need to bend the upper angle in rod nearest sending unit or top bend. Bend that corner until float moves away 3/4" to 1" from its original location. If you imagine the thing in the tank you are moving float towards front of bike 1". That will very much so change your reading to what you are looking for. Only bend the top bend and you can do it with your fingers be cautious because this unit is somewhat delicate.
Because of the tank shape it is impossible to get exact measurements from sending unit. But this is way better then original, I moved mine on the 96 we had and liked the gauge reading. This does not effect low fuel light level.

Re: 1994 Voyager 1200 Fuel capacity
Today I ran the tank down until the gauge was laying on the peg. I topped it off and it took 4.5 gallons. The red light had not come on. So I have 1.7 gallons left when the needle is dead. Good to know..

Re: 1994 Voyager 1200 Fuel capacity
That sounds right. I just returned from a 2700 mile road trip and on one tank the fuel light came on several miles after hitting the pin, I rode another 20 miles and filled up taking 5.1 gallons.
