I am in the process of putting a 1988 ZN1300 back together after sitting for close to a decade. It looks like the starter clutch is bad, but I can't figure out how to get the thing off.
I tried a gear puller, but the legs were were bending the edges of the rim.
Any suggestions?

Re: ZN1300 Starter Clutch
I figured it out. The front axle fits in the starter clutch. Just had to use a 10mm socket as a spacer and tap the end of the axle while turning the bolt. Popped right off.
Turns out I need the section of starter clutch the 3 lugs ride in. It is cracked right where the spring and pusher go into the clutch. At least I now know why I can't get the engine to turn over. Can't get enough pressure on the shaft to turn the motor.

Re: ZN1300 Starter Clutch
Good man.
I've been riding a 1300 since 92 and have never heard of an issue of a bad starter clutch.
Food for thought.I also brought an 84 back after sitting next to a shed for 10 years.
The bike started right up but I don't think some of the plastic guides survived the time .It runs fine but rattles a little more than I like.
