Re: Replacing my stock radio
Handlebar controls will not work with anything but the stock radio. Take the old radio out and send it to Pete Franchi. He can probably fix it or might be just a fuse.

Re: Replacing my stock radio
I was experimenting with replacing the Stock radio with a newer car radio..
There are advantages and disadvantages..
Its probably cheaper in the long run to have me look at the radio but yes.. It can be done..
You WILL loose the auto speed/volume control, the intercom and connectivity to the CB (if fitted).. It is possible with an add on device, to retain SOME of the handlebar controls.
the Radio will need to preferably be water proof so you will need a Marine Radio.. The problem is finding one that will accept the "remote" controls at a reasonable price.
You then have to shoe horn the new radio into the slot of the old radio and cover the gaping holes either side and make it all look "nice"..
Im still working on it, but I am also playing with a module that will replace the cassette deck and accept SD cards, usb and bluetooth.. Im determined to keep the old radios going as long as possible..
Im really scraping the bottom of the barrel now regarding replacement LCD's..

Re: Replacing my stock radio
Pete, Thanks for the info. I made the decision to change out the stock. Been messing with it a long time. Bought a sony marine with satilite, CD, and aux. The Stereo has the capability of hard wire remote. But unable to find one that will match up to the bike at this time. Once i find one it can be hooked up. So for now i will use the wirerless remote. Just will not have speed control. Just happy to have some awsome sound. Will post pictures when i'm done.
Tanks again Dan

Re: Replacing my stock radio
well it's been abou t6 weeks since my last post. Got my new radio in. A Sony marine radio with sirius xm. Connected the satilite and it sound great. no more static or loosing my station. was fairly easy (had a friend who knows what he's doing Ha!) Have tied to post progress picture but unable to get them to load to the site. To make a long story short there was some fabricating involved and used a sheet of dashboard plastic filler to fill in around radio.Very customized and looks great. Just updated my bike to the 21 st. century. will continue to try loading picks. Thanks for everyones help. Dan

Re: Replacing my stock radio
would love to see the final pics, also were you able to continue using the stock amp or di that go by the wayside during the conversion? also did it increase the volume to a decent audible at 65/75 mphs?

Re: Replacing my stock radio
Mike.. Am working on a replacement too, but I too would be interested in the final pictures..
Anyway.. are you sure you have the radio set up correctly?.. I can hear mine to 100 mph with no problem...
I posted the info on how to set the radio up best in the tech tips forum, plus also posted in there that I have also been able to add bluetooth/flash/sd card capability to the stock radio..
If you need specific details, then please contact me..

Re: Replacing my stock radio
Gave up trying to post pictures. Unless someone can give tips on how to do that!
And yes Mike no problem with the volume going 65 - 70. Sure it would be fine at higher speeds but i don't go that fast.LOL Haven't maxed out volume afraid i might blow a speaker.

Re: Replacing my stock radio
Dan.. you could email them to me and I can post them if you like.. Or scroll down when you are replying to a message, and look after the Submit button to the next green line and you will see the upload section..
Alongside File section, there is a choose file button. Click it and it will open a window to your system and then you can browse to your folder where you have the files stored and open the file.
Once uploaded, there is an option to "place inline" but dont worry about that at this point.
you may need to resize the pictures if they are too big. If you cant, then I can for you..
email address is either b6sw@hotmail.com or voyagerrr@outlook.com Or go to my site (link in my signature), scroll towards the bottom and there is a Contact me button..
Cheers and beers..
