Custom "team green "boards

Post by Lucasind »

....So this weekend I did'nt work on any motorcycles ! I have been too busy working on things, to build my son a custom made set of Kawasaki cornhole boards for his birthday, well I ran out of weekends so off to the local home depot I went saturday morning, Brad had to work at Chrysler all weekend ,and was gone, so I was alone for this project. I turned a pile of boards in too some pretty cool, one of a kind "cornhole boards, that I'm sure we will use around here for many years to come. We have a cookout here ,pretty much every weekend, and these will help throw some competition into the mix ! Here is some pictures of the start to finish.

Image

A quick trip to the motorcycle shop and I got these two packs of Kawasaki decals.

Image

Some measuring, sawing ,and screwing and we have something taking shape

After a couple of coats of Kilz primer , Team Green paint is applied.

After some creative masking, I decided to create a "two-tone" look.

Image

After the paint drys... It's time to install the decals :woohoo: The only fun part of the job. Anyway ......here is a look at the finished product, and will now wait for the black and green throwing bags to come in the mail .
So this is how I spent much of my weekend...tony :-D

Ron when I was a kid camping wiht the family we always played "Washers" which is about the same only washer boards have 3 holes not 1. Played one on one or in teams, 3 washers each and they were typically painted different colors {Cornhole uses bean bags but same idea}.
Boards are placed a certain distance apart and you toss objects at them from one side to the other. Get it on the board and you get a point, in the hole is 2 or 3 points.

We have spent an entire afternoon playing Cornhole at an IPVMC campout. It is pretty common thing in the Midwest.

....Thanks for the thumbs up ...on the boards guys  .... They are definately a one of a kind set ... and everyone around here has been asking me if I'm gonna branch off into building these in my spare time....... NO , Where I live ...it's all about ohio state vs. michigan college football. I can now say ,that money and time spent on these.... there is no profit to be made... these were made purely out of my love for my son and our bikes :LvStrk

Debron said something about "childhood" well...... back in our youth, we threw
horseshoes,alot...........but ,then something happened over the age of forty-five .
when returning to work on monday morning, after another weekend of throwing horseshoes, the right arm, elbow, shoulder ,was screaming in protest !...also alot of gals at our parties, found the old horseshoes, too heavy, and the distance between, too far, so this
"cornhole" game lets everyone take part in the competitive fun.

Kevin B, mentioned that this game is popular in the midwest, and I suppose that is true, if you guys on the west coast had not seen these before. I say "you guys", cause Don M. suggested I bring these to the next rally :gig: Great suggestion ,and alot of fun would be had with them, but these things are big and heavy ,and the XII is not suited to hauling them across the country
When the hotel/lodging is announced for next year, maybe they already have some there we could use !..............................tony :-D

My son made a set for a friend, decorated for Denver Broncos.
He found a website with accessories. Got LED ring lights to mount under the holes and light them so you can play in the dark.

I thought corn holes used bags filled with corn, while beanbags used beans and is called bean bag toss.

Nice job there. I have a neighbor who makes a lot of them on the side. They have a lot of tournaments down here now but I still prefer horseshoes myself....I guess these are more PC now because it's hard to get hurt if a bag full of corn hits you. On the other hand, a horseshoe on the shin will bring tears to your eyes....... :cry2:

Metric, when I first learned about the washers game, that's what they were using to play. Though I'm pretty sure they were homemade, as were the beer holders made out of PVC piping, LOL.
