If you want change, CONTACT THEM! (Tires)
I have noticed that the tire companies have been busy trying to make a good heavy touring tire. I also noticed that they are not all making a tire that matches the stock size that origionally came on our bike. The 170-70-16 is only made by a couple manufacturers. Ifyou want a particular type of tire, you have to go with a slightly smaller tire like a 180-65-16 which makes the speedometer error off by even more. From what I have been reading about this, it seems to be common knowledge that the speedometer on most bikes is off a bit, usually on the low side. I have found that the 180-70-16 size seems to be the answer. SO, I have been busy contacting the manufacturers and asking if they have plans to build their tires in the 180-70-16 size. Metzeler ME888 Ultra Marathon, Dunlop American Elite and the Continental ContiMilestone. Please let me know what you think and contact the manufacturers if you agree with me. Like they say, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
