getting bike ready for a try at the saddlesore 1000, leaving friday early am. see how a 18 year old bike does and a 55 year old also, lol. Just came back from a smokey mountain trip with it . no problems!. leaving jersey heading out to indianapolis then up to saginaw, mi to get our thousand miles. then up in to canada for four days, should be a good trip.

Good Luck, that 18 year old motorcycle will make it no problem. Two things to make sure of is New fuel filter and air filter. Next if you have a bicycle get out and ride, just hard enough to get the heart rate up and a good sweat going.

18 year old bike should have no worries. I did a couple saddlesores on my 1990 recently and it purrs like a kitten on those type of rides. Just remember to stay hydrated and away from too much caffeine.

Hi Rich, sounds like a great ride. I agree with Don M. with getting the bicycle out and getting the knee's moving a bit. I done two weeks out on the bike with wife and trailer and my knees ached for several weeks after returning home....and Im just a young guy of 59.
Along with the fuel filter and air filter, a carb bowl drain wouldn't hurt either... I have just over 70k on mine now with the carbs never removed. I drain the bowls several time a season and check the sync on them at the same time. These bikes are tough and love the open road.. And I have never worried about a long trip. ( just bad fuel along the way ) I always carry a 3mm and extensions to drain the carbs if needed because of fuel issues. Have a safe and worry free trip. Gene and Marie

well did it !. 1033 miles in 17 1/2 hours. bike ran like a top. trip was uneventful,that was a good thing. bike got great fuel mileage to. took one gallon less at each fuel stop then buddies gold wing.

As one who has done many Ironbutt rides I want to also express my congratulations on your accomplishment. So I hope that you got every thing needed to get that ride certified and get entered into the record book. Just curious any desires to try any other Ironbutt rides? Once you start riding long distance rides they can become addicting.
