Different tire sizes

Post by trikebldr »

Stated tire sizes for the ZN1300 are 110/90 V 18 for the front, and 130/90 V 17 for the rear. The 90 aspect ratio is the problem when sourcing the Elite3. Seems that most touring bikes run either a 60 or at least an 80 series.

Has anybody used a wider tire (Elite3), like the 60, either front or rear? If so, any handling problems/improvements?

I have never run Michelins on a motorcycle. I love them on my car, truck and Motorhome. Anybody got an opinion of them for the ZN1300? What size? Where to get?

Also, what about the Dunlop 404's?

Correction to the stated tire sizes for the ZN1300. I was looking in the wrong section of the supplement.

Correct sizes for the ZN1300 Voyager are MR90-18 for the front, and MU90-16 for the rear.

Now, does anybody know what the difference is between a MR and a MU tire? Ply rating, maybe?

I,and many others, have experienced the 404s they are OK for my grandkids tricycle, but that is about it.My VXII had one on the front when I bought it,front end wobble was something you had to stay on top of ,or it could get scary. The E3 is much better with handling and mileage. :corn:

I found this page that tells almost the whole tire story. It sure answered all of my questions, as well as letting me find the exact sizes of Elite 3 tires for front and rear. I can also measure the width of my rear fender to see if a slightly larger tire will squeeze in.
