Oil leak
I have an oil leak. It looks like the water pump seal or O ring. I was told I may need to replace the water pump as well. Does this sound right? Is it possible to tell if you need a new pump without installing one?

Re: Oil leak
if all you have the seal in the back of the waterpump has failed, this is repairable, do not spend $175 for a pump when about $30 will fix yours....

Re: Oil leak
I have oil leaking from what looks like an air breather hole on the bottom of the water pump. I have the water pump out and I'm wondering it this is something that can be cured without buying a new pump? How does the oil get to this breather hole? From what I can tell, no oil was getting into the cooling system and no water into the oil.

Re: Oil leak
It's the same as the post above, and the answer is the same. Call or email Carl Leo. For a small amount of money you'll have it repaired.
I had to reseal my water pump on the 1200 twice and under warranty Kawasaki replaced the water pump once. At 45k my water pump began to leak oil, that was the warranty water pump replacement. At 85k the water pump began to leak oil again. This is when I got my seal kit from Carl. Then at 172k the water pump began to leak again, so I called Carl and again he sent me the reseal kit.
I've since given my Voyager to my Son. The mileage is now 225k with no oil leaks. seems like Carl's reseal kits seem to last twice as long as that new water pump.
Was that water pump a new unit? Yes, I had a good working relationship with the dealer. They would let me do my own warranty work. I was the one who installed that new water pump.
