Electrical Question - Switched circuit

Post by HawkeSHR »

I'm not the most knowledgeable but definitely willing to delve in...

I'm looking so set up a switched circuit (a second Acccessory circuit) on a separate fuse for the additional items I added. I do not want them on the currently available Acc circuit. When the key is off this circuit should be dead so the battery is not drained.

What I am looking for is some advice on which line (wire) can I tap into for a 30amp circuit relay I want to set up the new circuit. I started looking at the wiring diagram but wanted to know if anyone has already tackled this.

Any advice is kindly appreciated.

simply power the relays field coil from the acc wire. You will find a acc plug behind the headlamp.

Thanks Gene. Since I have it all opened up much easier. Just could not figure it out from the diagram.

I appreciate the time you took to respond.

Just be careful removing the bezel around the head lamp. there are two tabs that go upward into their slots. ( they can break very easily ) Headlamp does not need to come all the way out you will see ( If I remember correctly ) three single wires behind and to the top . From there just use a test lamp and probe which one is hot with the key on. I used a relay with a mounting flange molded with the relay, and have it mounted on the right side of the battery hold down using a longer metric bolt. Gene Kap

FWIW: Found the connection and wired it up. Now have a an extra accessory circuit that will not drain my battery. Thanks again Gene.
