My Winter Ride!

Post by debron »

This is what I ride in the winter. This was taken today but contrary to what you see, winter really has not arrived yet in the PNW.

Used to love skiing at Mt. Bachelor. Never did at Hood. Where is this taken? :woohoo:

Used to ski Snoqualmie and Stevens. I skied Batchelor once, as well as Big Bear. Last time I went skiing was the year the xii came out!

Sliding on wooden slats down a mountain coated with frozen rain in the dead of winter... I don't get it. :cold:

Believe it or not Michael, I'm warmer here than when riding my XII when the temps are 45°! And yes, I wear ski clothes when riding the XII in the winter! Sliding down a mountain on frozen rain is similar to but more fun and more exciting than riding a sport bike through the twisties! A great adrenaline rush at speed!

Ken, this is at the top of the highest lift at Timberline, just below the summit of Mt Hood. Here's a photo (from another year with more typical snow-fall) from below the lodge.

Ron,
Used to love trips up to the old lodge at Hood. Now they have the new lodge, I don't think access to the old one is as easy (been too long since I have been there). "Drove" (4x4PU) past Government camp, Thanksgiving, a few years ago. I do miss living in the PacNW.
I admit, there are advantages to living in Phoenix (if you can handle the heat) such as year round riding, but I guess I prefer a coast and mountains nearby for when i can take advantage of them.
Skiing, loved it. Too many years and pounds of living away from the mountains. Like flying, maybe someday again (sooner than later).
Best clam chowder (my wife agrees) was at the half-way house up Mt Bachelor. Maybe just the fun of the day, but after a couple of hours on the slope, that was hard to beat to recharge.
Blessings,
Ken
