Anyone know how much the Hartco Sheepskin seat cover is? Their web site does not list anything and there is no email, just phone/fax.

For those who may have this cover, what do you like/dislike about it?

Thanks for your time!

Sheepskin, is sheepskin, no matter who is selling it. The only differences would be in cut shapes, and sizes. We bought just a sheepskin ($60, several years ago), and trimmed it to size.

What it does for us, is to keep us from sweating, avoiding monkey butt. It does not alleviate the pressure points, just the excessive sweating.

The other options include: wooden bead seat covers ($20-$40 per seat, help with the pressure points, but only slow the onset of pressure-point pain); gel pads (delay onset of pain, like the wooden beads); sheepskins (see above); Air Hawk seat cushions (expensive, but the Cadillac of seat covers, with a Cadillac price... didn't work for us, but they may for you). There are others, with varying price-points.

The wooden bead seat covers help not only with pressure points, but they also allow considerable air flow on your bottom, so monkey butt is not an issue. You do need to move to change the pressure/contact points, which helps delay the onset of pain, so remember to lift your bum every 20 minutes, or so, to shift the pressure points -- it only takes a small change to make it feel different. Cheers!

I've had two complete sets of Hartco Seat covers, over the years on my Voyager 1200. I just loved them. Very comfortable and looked good. How ever after a couple of years they started getting stiff and deteriorating. The cost was some where around $500.00 for everything, seats (front & back), rider backrest cover, arm rest covers, and rear passenger back rest cover. The fit and function were exceptional when new. However, after exposure to the elements they go down from there. If you ride only in parades, in nice weather, then by all means, get a set.

Since the past two sets, I just buy me a nice black dyed sheapskin that covers both the front and back seat as stated by the Sgt (about $60- $75.00). The function is just as good and it can be removed for cleaning and conditioning. Cool in the heat and warm in the cold.

I have a Hartco seat and just use a sheepskin, I been useing a sheepskin since 1984 and love riding with one on.
I found one of the cheapest places to get them is just down the road from me at Pat garrett sheepskins.
I had to trim it and where the slot was cut in for the back rest I reenforced it with 2 layers of leather so it would not tear.

I good quality sheep skin, mine is from New Zealand will last for years, have had mine for over 10 years. Been wet many times, just dry it out and it's ready to go, might cost a little more but if its made(treated) correctly it will last a long time.

Awesome! I really appreciate the input. Lots of options to research. Now to the hunt. I need to get something that will fit with the Utopia backrest. My wife is good with sewing and upholstering so I will be able to work around the backrest part.

Kevin, I forgot about Pat Garrets... Good excuse to take a ride down I78 when the weather subsides... :hmm:

Thanks again for the feedback!
