Spencer Seat Mod Users ??

Post by Ohio Mike »

About to pull the trigger on the Spencer Seat Mods but thought I would check here first and see how many of you have tried it and whether or not you got the LD Supracore upgrade. :hmm: Did a search and found a couple mentions but no reviews.

I definitely need a seat upgrade to make it to Estes park this summer. Asheville was less than 500 miles and I still thought my butt was going to fall off. :cry2: I'm sure the extra pounds and even those extra years didn't help anything. Ok, I'm working on the extra pounds and even trying to get in better physical shape. Well, the physical shape is improving anyhow... And the years, not much we can do about that except hope they keep piling on I guess!

Seems like the primary problem area is where leg turns to butt. Maybe I should dig out those riding shorts I got for Christmas a few years ago and see if they help.

Thanks,
Ohio Mike

I have a Spencer seat but don't use it. It's well made and I think it has the Supracore upgrade. It's definitely better than the stock seat. The reason I don't use it is because I also have a stock seat modified by Terry Adcox. The Spencer seat is pretty much the dimensions as the stock seat but the Adcox seat is wider. But I also have to use a Vetter Magic Seat Board. See it here. I have a bony butt so after 200 miles on any seat (Had a Mustang seat on my previous Honda) and I'm squirming and have found only the seat board provides relief. I've travelled thousands of miles coast-to-coast with that board and it does a great job for me.

My Spencer has only about 50 miles on it and it's been stored in its box for three years. I was 5' 9" (still am) w/32" inseam, and 190 lbs (not anymore!) when I bought it. If you're interested I will make you a deal on the seat!

David, I'll keep you in mind since Mike did ask first. I have to get the seat down from the attic. Haven't seen it or thought about it for quite a while. Out of sight, out of mind. I'll get it out and take a couple of photos and we'll go from there.

Sorry to take so long to get back. I'm a tax preparer in the winter and the last three weeks are our busiest of the season. Long days!

Here's a photo of the seat. It looks pretty much stock but feels much better:
