maybe a new kind of light in front for us

Post by Charles L. »

i've been noticing that most of the new cars have a pattern of LEDs by the headlights that are on during the daylight hours, and that they are so very visable, hard to not notice them, and i thought that if the motorcycle manufacturers would start putting them somehow around the headlight, it would be so much easier for car drivers to see us as opposed to just having the headlight on.

You can add a headlight modulator to most any motorcycle. It's amazing how much more you are seen. Some cyclist like them, some don't. I think if I can be seen better, all the better. You can google headlight modulators on utube if you want more info..

I added a pair of these to my wife's 97 Vulcan and my '03 Voyager. Wouldn't ride without them now. They make her bike so much more visible with that triangle of light than before (even in daylight). I've seen the modulators in passing on other bikes and they help also (not sure at night).

Now I will say, my wife's set (looked same/different brand) didn't last much past warranty. They failed (got really dim at first) while we were on a 4500 mile, 3 week trip. I thought I had a wiring issue because her brights setting on the headlight started cutting out at the same time (connector on back of light connector). :hmm:
Mine though, worked great until when getting towed the left ones lens was broken. Replacements are still going strong 6 months later.

Enjoy,
Ken

I have the headlight modulators on my Suzuki, but not yet mounted on the Voyager. The modulators attract a lot of attention, and in the rural areas where I live, many approaching cars will pull off of the road. They really do get attention, and they also pass inspection. They do not modulate at night, as they have a light sensor that controls dark/light operation. I also have the tailblazer, and it is roadlegal as well.
Now, how about a train horn................... :devl

As far as the headlight leds, I can see no downsides, and they Are Bright!
