FISH ON FRIDAY.....YUM !

Post by Lucasind »

Well the weather could not get much better here on the west end of lake erie ! About 75 glorious degrees under a cloudless blue sky, winds less than 10 mph :woohoo:
Who dosent like to get off work a bit early on Friday ,with riding conditions like this ! ...So by 3 p.m. it was kickstands up, and off we go twisting and winding thru the farm land on our way out to lake erie to one of our favorite destinations for a couple hours out and then a couple hours back
(always different roads in each direction) ride. The "Jet Express" is the fast way folks get out to the Lake erie islands to do their partying on the weekends.

Image

Image

Not far down the road from there , right on the edge of the lake is our destination ,a little family owned place called "Jolly Rogers"...serving up some awesome seafood ! We haven't been there since last fall and the first thing I noticed was the 30% increase in price  But there we are ....and hungry, so what are ya gonna do

Image

The "perch or walleye"last fall was $8.99.....now $12.99.......ouch ! but boy is it good !

My wife and son, soooo happy winter is OVER !
Image
These big ol' walleye turn into some nice THICK chunks for dinner YUM !
Image
The one in that picture is about a 24 incher, just right.

Image

Another lake erie favorite is the yellow perch, this stringer is 10 to 12 inchers :

Image

So anyway... that's what I did after work on this beautiful Friday afternoon......and now that I have y'all thinking fish, you guys can go to your local Mc D's for a Mc fish ! :tong: :gig: ........tony :-D

Wow, I love fried fish,, one of my favorite foods, especially with good tarter sauce.... That menu may have gone up but the prices look fine to me, considering the prep work to make it all and the experts in the kitchen.. Sure does look good, Love the photo's of the family. You have no idea, in Kansas we can't just go down to a local fresh fish fry place,, I used to live in Texas and we had shrimp down there every which way from sunday....Cool post ...Beave

Tony, that's cruel and unusual punishment to post pics of such great eatin' that most of us can't just drive a couple of hours to get.

But, maybe Beave and I should start posting pics of all the super BBQ we get around the KC area! We have a new BBQ shack about two blocks away, so when we go try them out I will be posting.

Hello to ALL of my Kawasaki riding brothers out there in "forum land"

I know ,when the arctic blast hits my "neck of the woods" some of you may be wanting to offer me a hunk of CHEESE with my WINE..... ...but now that all that bitter stuff is only a bad memory, for 9 months.....I'm happy as a clam again ! :

It is 9:30 P.M here as I write this, and before tomorrow's cold and rain sets in we took this opportunity to ride ALL over god's green earth TWICE today ..,I took the young guys out on places that I have not took them before ......9 hours of riding ,in total.....after a 5 hour ride, I brought the group back so I could exchange the XII....and get out the XIII . I have to tell you guys that ,that 30 year old ZN 1300 is one FINE machine ! The more I ride it.... the more I am falling in LOVE :LvStrk
with it ! Back in the day..... when I worked as a Kaw tech,it was a really quick test ride after doing the service on one..... but NOW that I own one.......I am very impressed with this bike's well balanced handling abilities ! ! ! I do NOT slow down going in and out of the twisties with the big six,
but instead, am accelerating into them ...thru them...and out of them....! THIS IS ONE GREAT HANDLING MACHINE ! ! !.....NOW......I DO realize that my ZN 1300 in it's stripped down "bagless" state.....may have some weight contributing factor for this , ....and it has (as some say) junk Chinese tires on it, but at this point ...I am hard pressed to find anything to complain about :!!
My friend trkbldr says...."let her rev" well ,let me tell you guys, I been lettin her rev !
With a wind ,coming from the east, and I was heading west....I gave a attempt at keeping up with my boys ...and had the ol' girl hitting 101 M.P.H...... (digital speedo)
So anyway...what a great treat mother nature gave us this past few days.....with absolutely THE BEST riding conditions to exploit ....and we DID !

Here is a shot of most of the group in my backyard, after a very long day of riding..... The boys decided that they want to start there own thing called " T-ROK" (toledo riders of kawasaki) and as long as I fix ALL of the bikes...they are willing to let me be part of the group !(lucky me :-( )

Image

I'm the old guy in the middle !

Thanks to LIL' BEAVE ,LOREN.and BRUCE,for responding to my fishin'story....and I hope you guys can find ur way to the rally so we can have a beer together and chew that motorcycle fat !...tony :-D

As the Beave says, those prices look OK to me, too! I have the fish-n-chips often when we go to Red Robin, and right now their price is $12.99. Sometimes it MAKES me order a burger just to keep costs down!

But, I do crave a lot of the beer-battered fish! Guess I'll just have to limp up to our local Long John Silvers to get a tiny bit of fish for a bucket of cash!

While Cindy and I were in Cape Cod two years ago we could have lobstah all day long for almost pennies. They put lobstah in everything, including shakes! Around here we get good BBQ pretty inexpensively. Good "authentic" mexican can be found in Calif. pretty reasonable. Maybe we should all form a network to ship each other our local specialties packed in dry ice. Oops! There goes the price right there! I would maybe give my bike for a pile of red snapper or orange roughie! Sea bass, too!

About the price .... eating lobster in cape cod for almost pennies is the way I feel it should be HERE !
Heck, those fish are in the lake right behind the building , I,m just not a boat guy (thank god!) or I would be out there catching em too ! I'd rather spend my free time riding !

Loren.... send me a p.m. when you would like to meet there, Pam and I are ALL IN to that idea  ...........................tony :-D

Down here in Lousiana the favorite seafood is shrimp and when in season CRAWFISH. We also enjoy Red Snapper, Farm raised catfish, and flounder. Lots of folks fish the ponds and lakes here for sockalay perch and bass. I love them all. I wish I could get cheap lobster down here because we love that as well. You haven't lived until you've had stuffed red snapper, catfish or flounder, stuffed with shrimp and crabmeat and topped with a helping of crawfish etouffe on top. That with a loaded baked potato, pu-yi cher. Now that is to die for.

Come on down any time of year. The crawfish season is late winter early spring. Shrimp is available pretty much all year. Soft shell crabs have a season but I can't remember exactly when. We can keep you satisfied regardless!
