Crackling pipes

Post by kawman12 »

I have had my 1700 for a couple months and notice after riding that the pipes really crackle after I shut bike off and as it cools down. Is this normal?

Yup! hot metal of pipes expand and when cool it contracts making that sound all over the world, very common.. especially on M/C the way the exhausts are manufactured. some M/c's do and some don't.. most do..

I never seemed to have that with my 1200, but figured it was common.
