I've replaced the swing arm bearings and in looking at the swing arm installation notes on chapter 12, page 12, it says to torque the adjuster nut T-4 to 13.0 foot pounds while holding the lock nut. Is this to set the preload on the bearings?
My reason for asking is that the last time I repacked the swing arm bearings some years ago, I was advised not to tamper with this bolt as it would affect the alignment of the swing arm.
Which is correct?

Re: Rear Swing Arm Adjustment
this is to set the preload, you only do this when replacing the bearings.. after torquing loosen the bolt and re torque to set the inner races.....
