Throttle Sensor Position Checker TPS 57001-1003

Post by Citizen2015 »

Hi all;

I have the same problem I hear other people have with the ZN1300...idle hard to set, bad gas mileage, etc. Seems one needs a Throttle Sensor Position Checker 57001-1003, and of course my local dealer doesn't have one, haven't seen anyone with one..

Does anyone have one of these? Do you know of anyone who does? Maybe a dealer willing to lend another dealer one, if not a home mechanic? Anyone with one to rent? Anyone who knows what is in it...looks like a simple wiper voltage reader with two LEDs, possible easy to duplicate.

I'm really tired of trying to set an idle and looking like a fool at stoplights. Any suggestions?
:please: :tho:

Thanks for the links.

I may have found a TPS checker...at BikeBandit...they have it listed for $159US, which is about million dollars Canadian, but we'll see, they may come back and say they don't have it. Crossing my fingers.

In the meantime, I sprayed the hell out of the TPS with electrical contact spray, played with it a bit and set it slightly counterclockwise from original position...seems OK right now, we'll see!

Just checked...BikeBandit closed the order...not available. So much for that route. The checker has to be a simple potentiometer reader, except with dumb LEDs instead of a voltmeter reading. If only someone would know the expected voltage at 1000 rpm, it would be simple to measure and adjust.

Any old timer mechanics out there?

I think you're right...I have the manual and performed whatever tests I could before the bike was running, but there you are..expected readings. Thanks, I think you're onto something, MeAgain!
