So no question is a dumb one...
On my '88 Voyager XII- Is this hose (there are 1ea. between #1&2 and #3&4 carbs) an over flow? The ends look flared as if they should attach somewhere.

Re: Carb hose
What you have photo'd are the "To be open to the atmosphere" ends of the 2 hoses which come from between the #1 and 2 carbs, and the #3 and 4 carbs and go over the top of the lower airbox and point downward only, toward the swing arm. They are meant to be open.

Re: Carb hose
You are exactly correct as far as position. I pulled the one up just for pic. What are there use? Re: Carb hose
They are vents for the float bowls. Incoming fuel displaces air so it has to go somewhere, or the fuel will not easily/smoothly flow into the float chambers.
The tubes face downward so no contaminants enter the pipe and flow down into the carbs.

Re: Carb hose
Thanks for the more detail explanation. I had a mind to find what they did. I'm a little 'anal' as they say (...whatever the heck that is). I want to know the why ,where, when and how something works. Googled, You Tube and forums were some of the best things that happened. Beats the hell out of encyclopedias. Spent some time on You Tube seeing the in & outs of these carbs last night. Said before I wasn't a carb person but these don't look that difficult. I'm just use to Holley's and such. Thanks again. Now to search out some gauges.
