RPM drop with brakes engaged

Post by customsound79 »

I set my idle to around 800 to 1000, but when I squeeze the brakes the rpm drops way down. When I release it goes back up to normal. I'm assuming this is because of the brake lights. Does this sound like a voltage regulator issue?

Maybe, pull the fuse and try again. Maybe a weak battery. Does if turn over quickly on starting?

pull the brake lever without holding onto the throttle grip, your throttle cable may be hanging up and you may be unintentionally twisting the throttle closed. :hmm:

I pulled it with a rope so I could see if all the lights were coming on. I guess it's just a huge load on the system.

Is this while the bike is on the center stand? When the bike is idling in neutral does the rear wheel spin? Could be your clutch is dragging.

Hook up a voltmeter to see what the system is doing. That'll give you the answer.
